The accountability of the nonprofit sector is of keen importance. For all the concern over nonprofit accountability, however, the meaning of the term is not self-evident. To the contrary, it means different things to different people. This poses a particular challenge to charities because they, perhaps more than other social institutions, depend on public trust, and this trust involves.
